Therese Koomar is a Principal Consultant at Applied Business Strategy with nearly 30 years of finance, informational technology, operational, and strategic experience. She has extensive experience in global business strategy development and execution.  Her career highlights include:

Served clients in complex financial matters.  As a Principal in a consulting firm specializing in project management and accounting and financial systems, Ms.  Koomar served clients in such matters as:  the implementation of a food and beverage software system for a major league sports team; the development and implementation of a process to streamline operations and reduce intercompany billings; facilitating an acquisition for an international manufacturer which included responsibility for establishing the opening balance sheet; serving as project manager on a global recoveries automation project for an international real estate investment trust, designing a process for automating common area maintenance (CAM), insurance, and real estate tax billings for over 500 properties; and managing an aggressive retail expansion of over 120 branches in one year for a national bank, successfully maintaining project schedule and meeting targeted opening dates.

Well versed in global business strategy.  As a senior strategy analyst for Cliffs Natural Resources, a multi-billion dollar annual revenue international mining and natural resource company, she played an integral part in developing and analyzing issues that drove corporate strategy.  In this role, she was responsible for:  competitive intelligence and analysis; analysis of market participants and market dynamics designed to improve profitability; and development of a risk model to assess the business risk for entry into new countries.  Her team designed, built and executed a business simulation workshop for top senior leaders in the company which ran over two days with over 80 participants.

In her early career, she served as Assistant Controller for The Richard E. Jacobs Group, one of the nation’s premier developers of commercial real estate and a private owner of regional shopping malls, office buildings, and hotels operating in 18 states.  She began her career with Arthur Andersen & Co., in Chicago and Cleveland.

Ms. Koomar graduated from Bowling Green State University, (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Accounting) and she has a Master of Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace College.  She is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Ohio.  She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Ohio Society of CPAs.
